Degree Level:

BSc Physics with a Foreign Language (Italian)        2002-present

During my time at university I have particularly enjoyed the mathematical and practical laboratory aspects of the course.  I am currently leading a project, as part of my second year laboratory course, to demonstrate the capabilities of shape memory materials.  My particular area of responsibility involves designing and building an electronic circuit, incorporating a shape memory material, which can be used as a temperature indicator.

Work Experience:

Heinz Pizza Factory                                                         Summer 2002

This placement involved assimilating knowledge of a large number of tasks, often by self-intuition in a variety of areas; from the bakery through to packing and required a flexible attitude to working.

Young’s Bluecrest                                                    Summer 2000 and 2001

After gaining my Food Hygiene certificate I spent two summers working in the Portions department at Young’s Bluecrest Fish Processing Factory.  My task was to make certain that this busy department was kept running smoothly by managing the stock of packaging and raw materials and involved meeting strict deadlines and training of new staff.  I was also involved in the preparation of food products to high specifications and included much overtime.  My success in this placement was evidenced by glowing references and offers of permanent employment.

I was involved in a variety of tasks in the construction and maintenance of gardens including tractor driving; often working unsupervised.
